athlon problems?

Does anyone have problems with athlon-500,
msi slot-A- motherboard and terratec ews64s-soundcard?
i can use the card after installing it, but
after rebooting there is no sound anymore,
although no errors are shown in the my-computer-menu.--> new install every time.
it is so annoying, PLEASE help me, if you can.

I want to buy Athlon in nearest time, and afraid to get same problem with EWS.

Maybe I just tell you stupid idea. Did you overclock the bus speed? It is also may reveal this EWS glitch. Otherwise, learn BIOS setup points more closely, for example ISA Data Recovery Time, etc.

Sorry my language. I want allso buy Athlon and my friend had a some problem whit EWS64XL
now im not sure can i buy it. Anyway try this first run setup> EWS mixer> Eeprom.

Bus-speed? i dont know, i dont overclock
the athlon (or do you mean the overall bus speed of a slot-a-mainboard is too fast for
some isa-cards?)
bios setup was what i also thought. i tried
"save values" instead of "optimezed" and i also assigned 2 irq?s to legacy isa.
and- i used the eprom-setup-software and tried nearly any possible combination.
it only became even more bad.
momentary situation:
after booting, i go to ews setup panel and
and change wave play buffer latency (!) : from 12 to 13 or back.
result: the clock shows up for 5 seconds and then everything works as it should (however not really stabile).
if i dont perform this as the first action after booting, a message box appears and asks
me to reboot. if i do it first, no box, just
everything works (so the card-hardware should be ok)
if i dont do anything at all, there are no
yellow "!" in the my-computer-panel, but there is simply no sound. and you cant move
the "main volume" and the "midi"-slider at ews-panel (the other sliders still move.
it is so strange and terratec hotline just said they don#t know this error.

BTW. I hear something like this. All ATX Case is not included enough powerfull power supply with Athlon.It takes more than Intel. expecially when you starting computer, that could be a reason why you ISA bus can't get enough power. Easiest way to check that is, try using two power supply and use second power supply to harddisk and CD.

Hm, I heard this same thing, but the problem was that display adapter "froze". New adapters take quite much power... Dunno!

Hopefully you get your card working.

Did you check that your EWS is firmly connected to your motherboard. If your card is loose, then your computer can find it, but after rebooting it doesn't find it. I had this problem with network adapter.
